October 2014 - 30 Day Photo Challenge - DAY 7:DOORS & WINDOWS

Anticipating this day's photo challenge, I have been scoping out some interesting and unique subjects for the last couple days on my way to and from Mason City. 

 It turns out the window of opportunity for ideal lighting is actually quite narrow. One of the doors I had chosen was in the shadow of the roof overhang at just the exact moment I was driving by to snap the image (so it is not included here).

The door was shut on several of my other prospects, as the inhabitants of said buildings were unfortunately outside--raking, mowing etc. at just the time I was passing by to get my shot. Trying to explain that I was taking a picture of their front door for my photo challenge blog was probably not going to be very believable.

I discovered this particular subject matter was actually quite interesting to me--similar to when you purchase a new car and start to notice all the other cars just like the one you are now driving, when before you never gave that particular model a second look. All of sudden, I was noticing the intricate architecture of every door frame and trim detail of every window.

As I was driving around looking for doors and windows to include in this blog post, the most amazing event occurred. In my mirror through the driver's side window, I could see the full moon, and looking forward through the windshield window, a beautiful sunset graced my view--windows are not just for looking at...they are for looking through.

I can envision a separate blog/photo challenge being devoted to just church and stained glass windows or just car doors or barn doors or just what you see when you look through your own window and door.  

I didn't think I would find this challenge as fascinating as I have and will probably need to delve even further into a study of windows and doors and lighting and effects at another time in the near future.

A comical side note is that I entered a store today I had never been in before, and lo and behold, there were a whole section of doors and an entire aisle of windows--of course I took pictures.
